The prequel Batman series ‘Gotham‘ has just received a series order from FOX. We’ve been seeing the pilot episode images here and there, but it apparently impressed Fox enough to sign on for the series. The series is due to air this fall. This is another in a long line of DC live action shows that have been in production after the success of Arrow, including the Flash, and a show staring John Constantine. If you’re not familiar with the details of Gotham, it stars Ben McKenzie as a young Jim Gordon as a detective in the GCPD, who is partnered up with Harvey Bullock, played by Donal Logue, to tackle the criminal element in Gotham City. Bruce Wayne has just lost his parents and his journey to become the Dark Knight has not even started, so this is a Gotham prior to the masked heroes and insane villains that the city will be known for later on. Characters like Oswald Cobblepot, aka the Penguin, Selina Kyle, Alfred Pennyworth, and other known characters will be in the show as we see Gordon does his best to keep law and order in a city as corrupt as Gotham.

The first trailer for Gotham will air tonight on Fox, during 24: Live Another Day. Be sure to tune in and watch if you want to get an early glimpse at this new prequel to the Batman Mythos.
