A couple months ago, Zack Snyder teased about the reveal of the Batmobile. Nobody expected him to show Batfleck in the cape and cowl. As expected, the Internet was set ablaze. This, however, was also just as unexpected.

USA Today got the big exclusive to reveal the first official photo of Henry Cavil in costume. The photo is pretty awesome. Take a look:

Along with the photo, it seems USA Today did an interview with Snyder. Among the many interesting comments, this one caught my eye first, Snyder mentioned that the flick is “denser, thicker, and more epic than Man of Steel.”

To any Supes fans in the audience who were apprehensive about his divided attention between the two heroes, Snyder remains relatively attached to Supes as the piece says that of Snyder, “really digging in and evolving the character — both as Clark and as Superman — is a challenge.” Snyder mentions, “the fun of trying to figure out what to put in front of him that’s difficult.” Based on the article and Snyder’s answers, the movie is still primarily based on and around Supes and Snyder is fascinated with immersing the character on Earth and pushing him to greater and greater challenges. Thus, the Batman factor.

He says, “I was in no rush to put Batman in the movie, but on the other hand it seemed organic the way our story was unfolding to start to feather him in.” To further show that it was more a Supes movie than a Batman movie, Snyder chose not to incorporate an origin story, but rather opted for the veteran crimefighter that people are familiar with, similar to Frank Miller’s Dark Knight Returns. It seems Batman is simply another challenge for the Man of Steel.

When asked about their relationship, Snyder was slightly dodgy on the matter saying, “suffice it to say there is a ‘v’ in between their names.” Just by having the “v” rather than the “vs” will apparently “keep it from being a straight ‘versus’ movie, even in the most subtle way.”

Also on Gal Gadot, he says although he has not filmed any scenes with Gadot as Wonder Woman yet, he says, “she’s working out and getting buff and ripped.” How do you explain those set photos? Maybe he’s referring to her in costume?

As far as the suit goes, I’m not seeing any noticeable difference aside for some slightly details on the shield and that pseudo belt buckle/pajama waist divider thing? The suit still looks cool. I never had any issues with it to begin with. However… it does look like he could be in Gotham City. Hmmm. I’m more interested in the interview, however. I love Bats a lot, but I was worried when he was taking too much of the focus off of Supes when this originally going to be a Man of Steel follow-up. I’m excited.

What do you think? Suit look any different to you? Do you like the fact that Snyder is still focusing on Superman? Let me know.
