Greetings fellow Gothamites –

Apparently, this Wednesday, July 8th, dark times are headed to the school in the upcoming 8th issue of Gotham Academy, when classes will be suspended for a funeral.

With Olive featured on the cover dressed in black after being away from the school last month attending to important personal business, indicators point to a focus on her in this issue. If that’s indeed the case, I’m hoping we get some long awaited answers pertaining to her past or her mother’s clandestine stay at Arkham Asylum.

Although neither of those hopes are definite, I do know that, Mingjue Helen Chen, will be returning as the featured artist for a second consecutive issue (regular artist, Karl Kerchl, is handling the cover art). That alone should be motivation enough to snag yourself a copy. Here’s a peek from one of the comics pages to whet your palette.

If you look closely at the images you’ll notice, Maps Mizoguchi, clad in a Shakespearean costume, suggesting the perfect literary theme to accompany a tragedy.

Considering the dark premise of the issue’s tagline, the intermingled Shakespearean overtones and the possibility of revelations about Olive’s past, this issue is going to be a good one. Be sure to grab yours on July 8th.
