Infinite Crisis, WB’s forthcoming Multiplayer Online Battle Arena (MOBA), now profiles their steampunk-inspired reimagining of the Joker, Gaslight Joker. Click the jump to see more.

Roll Call! We’ve got the Justice Leaguers, Wonder Woman, Flash, Zatanna, and Green Lantern. And then there are the big baddies, Doomsday, Poison Ivy, and the Joker. And lastly, there are the alternate dimension-ers, Gaslight Batman and Catwoman, and Nightmare Batman.

Today, we’re getting the Gaslight character to complete our Gaslight Batman triumvirate with Gaslight Joker.

Take a look:

After Gaslight Catwoman, it’s refreshing to see them take such an original route with Gaslight Joker. He’s fat, smelly, and disgusting. He carries old ham and instead of hyenas, he uses rats to do his bidding. And based on that move, Blood Money, he’s motivated by cold, hard cash. Sure, he’s still psychopathic, but he doesn’t quite seem as insane, based on the fact that we can explain his motivations, and is obviously much more formidable than the Joker that we’re used to. I mean, he went from a mid-long range fighter relying on toys, to a melee-based tank. I probably will not be using Gaslight Joker, but I love that Turbine managed a complete 180 with the Joker… you know, aside from making him a very sane, average Joe.

Now, I’m anticipating Nightmare Joker. Wouldn’t it be cool if Nightmare Joker was like a vampire hunter of some sort? You know, as a way to oppose the vampiric Nightmare Batman? We’ll just have to see.

Turbine Studios are currently developing Infinite Crisis. There is no set release date for the game, but beta testing has officially begun. You can sign up here.

How do you like Gaslight Joker? Is this departure too extreme? What do you they’d do with Nightmare Joker, assuming there is one? Let me know .

The villainous badass Deathstroke is getting a DLC for Batman: Arkham Origins when you pre-order . Click the jump to see more.

I’ve never actually given Deathstroke much thought aside from his halfhearted appearance in the Teen Titans Cartoon Network show. To be honest, I’ve always had a problem confusing him for Deadshot. You can’t blame me entirely, both are master assassins and both have some form of death in their two-syllable one-word names. Now that I’ve been playing Injustice: Gods Among Us for the iOS, I have a new found appreciation for him. He’s been in my roster for almost the entire duration of my play time and I’ve come to realize just how much of a badass he really is.

Well, the big news today, to my delight, is that we’re getting a Deathstroke DLC with Batman: Arkham Origins. And that’s if you pre-order. The news comes from Amazon’s Video Game page, but provides very little detail aside from its existence. So there’s no telling if this will be similar to Catwoman’s DLC in Arkham City, making him playable with his own solo missions or more so like Robin or Nightwing, being only playable in Challenge Maps. I’m definitely rooting for the former because I was never the biggest fan of those Challenge Maps. Although I really enjoy chaining combos all-day long, it’s nice to have that free-roam capability.

In the end, this makes sense considering how much of the promotional material has been geared towards promoting Deathstroke’s debut. We got that teaser trailer earlier this week, where Bats and Deathstroke duked it out, the rumor where he will be playable in multiplayer mode, the appearance in the demo, the concept art, the screen shots, and the first GameInformer cover. Suffice it to say, it seems Deathstroke was always intended to be a big part of Arkham Origins and this news of a DLC was the logical next step.

Deathstroke is one of the seven assassins contracted by Black Mask to kill the Batman.

So yeah, go pre-order it now!

Would you be interested in some Deathstroke solo missions? What other DLC packs are you craving? Let me know.

Kevin Conroy revealed that he is, in fact, voicing Batman in the next Arkham game. Click the jump see more.

Looks like some folks have got some ‘splainin to do, including myself. A couple weeks ago, news broke from NAG Magazine that WB Montreal was going in a different direction for Batman, meaning that with their new title, Arkham Origins, on the horizon, they wanted a younger Batman and therefore replacing the revered Kevin Conroy as the voice of the Bats. As a huge fan of Kevin Conroy, I was pretty disappointed.

Well, the big news today is that Kevin Conroy himself, while doing a panel at Dallas Comic-Con this weekend, confirmed his involvement in the next Arkham game (now that he’s allowed to talk about it), saying “we’ve been working for the last 9-10 months on the next Arkham.”

Now, I’m incredibly relieved to hear this, don’t get me wrong, but let’s analyze this statement a bit. Notice how he never actually name-checks Arkham Origins, but simply calling it the “next Arkham.” There has been speculation that RockSteady has been working on the true successor in the Arkham franchise, while WB Montreal is working on a new Arkham franchise spin-off. If this is to believed, then it’ll coincide with NAG Magazine‘s scoop on WB Montreal leaning towards a younger Batman as well as the Facebook name change that occurred a couple months back. The Facebook fanpage may be momentarily promoting Arkham Origins, but I find it suspect that they’re still using the umbrella name of “Batman: Arkham” instead of simply changing it to “Batman: Arkham Origins.” With all that in mind, could it possibly be that we might be getting two Arkham games? One by RockSteady and one by WB Montreal? The more Batman, the merrier, right? I can dream and I can dream big. And oh, what a wonderful dream it is.

But then again, I might be reading into a non-existent ruse. Taking his statements at face value, the timing of this confirmation is aligned properly with the timeline of Arkham Origins, with him having been working on the game over the past 10 months as well as the non-disclosure agreement allowing him to talk about the game. Let me state the obvious to make sure that everything is properly elucidated. If he’s allowed to talk about the game, that must mean the game has been announced and is in fact public knowledge, and as far as I know, the only announced Arkham game is Arkham Origins. Soo… maybe Conroy simply didn’t remember the name of the game.

All that aside, I’m very happy with DC’s choice to stay true to Batman and going back to Kevin Conroy.

You can view the panel in its entirety below:

The panel is being moderated by Dr. Travis Langley, author of Batman and Psychology: A Dark and Stormy Knight.

How do you feel about this news? Are you happy that Kevin Conroy is back? Let me know.

Well, the numbers are in, and NetherRealm Studios’ Injustice: Gods Among Us (360, PS3, Wii U) has been crowned ruler of all video games! …At least for the month of April.

With over 830,000 copies of the game sold, Injustice beat out other top contenders Bioshock: Infinite and Dead Island: Riptide by at least 300,000 units sold, according to VGChartz, for the top spot in this month’s analytic numbers; all this amid dramatically fewer sales in new video game titles and consoles compared to previous years.

If you haven’t played it yet, Injustice features many different characters from the DC Universe, including our own dear Dark Knight, in a quest from stopping one member of the Justice League from ruling the Earth.

If you already own it, keep an eye out next week, as the game’s director Ed Boon tweeted that another member of the Bat-family would be joining the game’s roster.

Who is your favorite playable character in Injustice: Gods Among Us, and who would you love to see added to the roster?
Arkham Origins has a brand new teaser trailer on the Internet today. Despite clocking in at only about 40 seconds, it does show off a pretty awesome fight between Deathstroke and Batman on the cold Christmas Eve during which the game takes place. Deathstroke comes at Batman with his arsenal of weaponry like his swords and bo staff, but The Batman seems to be able to ward off his attacks with his martial arts prowess. Is this the first time Batman has met his match in his early career? The full trailer will be released on May 20th, so keep an eye out!

Have you ever wanted to play as ANY DC super hero or villain? Well apparently now you can, or rather this fall, when Scribblenauts Unmasked: A DC Adventure releases for Wii U, 3DS, and PC. I am not familiar with the Scribblenauts series, but apparently in the game you are allowed to create massive amounts of stuff and it will appear in the game. I will definitely be checking into the series before this DC version arrives, so I will know what to expect. Here are some still images of the game, with Batman villains, the Batcave, Green Lantern, and more!

Joker is getting more skins for his crazy self, and they’re inspired by The Killing Joke. Check out Joker’s new skins for Injustice: Gods Among Us. Click the jump to see more.

For those who don’t know what The Killing Joke is, it is the one-shot graphic novel by Alan Moore about how Barbara Gordon was paralyzed by the Joker in his effort to drive Commissioner Gordon insane. It’s a crazy story that has shaped and defined Barbara Gordon’s character pre-New 52 as Oracle and has developed Barbara’s character as Batgirl in The New 52.

So, for those who have read the story, this is exciting! Last time, Batgirl was featured to have her own DLC where she beats the living snot out of Joker. This is great for Batgirl fans who have wished for this to happen in comic books and in the media. Thank God, we’re getting it as a game. However, Joker is getting some love as well with three skins from his Killing Joke skin pack. See the skins down below. There will be more for Joker to be released later maybe there might be Heath Ledger’s Joker or Mark Hamill’s Joker. Wouldn’t that be awesome?!

The Killing Joke will be released this summer 2013.

More leaked DLC is coming our way and there might a former Robin who will get in the game. Click the jump to see more.

When asked in February 2013, Ed Boon stated that it would be impossible to do so many characters for Injustice: Gods Among Us. However, he was never asked about how much DLC would be available for Injustice. Batgirl, Doomsday, and a few others were leaked to be released and were shown to be the next DLC to have. Now, there are more leaks and one in particular has made gamers and fans perk up. Rumored future character releases are Martian Manhunter, Red Hood, Power Girl, and Sub-Zero.

For the longest time, Batman fans wanted all the former Robins to make an appearance on Injustice. We got Damian Wayne who is the Red Nightwing from the game and Dick Grayson (Nightwing). So, what’s the deal with Jason Todd (Red Hood)? Will he just be a nice skin to have or will he have a back story similar to Batgirl’s where she fights against Joker. One thing that can be said about Red Hood joining the game is that there will be guns, oh so many guns! Wait…isn’t that a bit violent? But, we love violence and Injustice is already so disgustingly dark, and we need more of that! So, let’s hope there are guns, bazookas, and tons of explosions from the Red Hood DLC. If there is DLC for him, that is. Remember this is all purely rumor based.

Infinite Crisis, WB’s forthcoming Multiplayer Online Battle Arena (MOBA), now profiles the lovable speedster, the Flash, and our favorite sadistic, murderous psychopath, the Joker. Click the jump to see more.

ROW CALL! We’ve got some Justice Leaguers in the fray with Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, and Zatanna. The baddies have revealed themselves to be sweet, sweet Poison Ivy and Doomsday, while our alternate universe dwellers include both Gaslight and Nightmare Batman, and Gaslight Catwoman.

So who do we have this week? Let’s welcome another Leaguer to the mix – and a founding member to boot! It’s my second favorite Leaguer (Betcha can’t figure out who my favorite Leaguer is?), the Flash. And then, we have Batman’s archnemesis and my favorite supervillain of all the time, the Joker.

Take a look:

Considering how attached I am to these characters, I was a little apprehensive about their reveal. Of the two profiles today, I love one while the other, I’m not so sure about.

Currently in the midst of the iOS version of Injustice: Gods Among Us, and aside from DeathStroke, I’m a huge fan of the Flash at the moment, so I was very curious as to what we’d be getting for the Flash. Thankfully, I’m not disappointed. The costume’s a little bland, but I’m a big fan of his animation and fighting style. I just want him to go FASTER! If I don’t end up playing Ivy, I’m definitely playing Flash. As I’ve said before, I’m a big fan of melee characters who actually get involved in the fray, so much so that I kinda condemn playing as support characters, which is why I was so disappointed with Zatanna. For the most part, their take on Flash is a really good embodiment of the character and his ultimate is badass.

The Joker, on the other hand, was kinda disappointing, I do understand his fighting style. Most incarnations of the Joker have shown that he’s never really been formidable or combative in any way, opting more so for the psychological trauma that he can inflict or quick, indiscriminate murders. So I understand that they would go about making him fragile, preferring to attack from afar with his many gadgets. I do enjoy his merry skipping walking animation, but their take on his personality is a little too cartoony for my taste. And his moveset, although perfectly understandable, is just completely uninteresting. I probably won’t be playing as the Joker, but at least I’ve got Ivy and Flash to choose from.

Turbine Studios are currently developing Infinite Crisis. There is no set release date for the game, but as of last week, beta testing has officially begun. You can sign up here.

Do you agree with my assessment of the Joker? How would program this character? Let me know.

In a Comic Book Day interview with Collider, DC Entertainment COO and Green Lantern writer Geoff Johns talked about the first season of CW’s Arrow while teasing other DC plans for television by saying “You’ll know a lot more about DC in July at Comic-Con.”

Check out a bit of the interview below where Johns is questioned about the future of DC animated films, but click the link above for the full story.

COLLIDER: Something that you guys do really well is DC Animated movies. I have a really interesting question coming from Twitter asking is there any possibility of taking a movie script that never got made, like a J.J. Abrams Superman, and taking that script or idea and making a DC Animated movie out of it?

JOHNS: There’s always a possibility. That’s not the first time that’s come up. There’s always discussions about what would be really cool to do.

COLLIDER: What about talking to other writers, bringing in new and unexpected voices? To do an animated movie? Is that something–

JOHNS: Yes.

COLLIDER:Damn it! I feel like two months too soon!

JOHNS: Sorry, man. There is a really cool one in development right now, that’s not necessarily — it’s very different from anything they’ve done before. I’m really excited about it. I don’t know when they’ll be talking about that yet, I don’t know when it’ll be ready to talk about.

In case you didn’t already hear about it, DC Comics and Warner Bros. teamed up with LEGO to bring our “Brick” Knight to the small screen in “LEGO Batman: The Movie – DC Superheroes Unite.” The film will be heavily based on the story of the hit multiplatform video game “LEGO Batman 2: DC Superheroes,” and even contain some reanimated cutscenes taken directly from the game.

Batman and Robin must team up with Superman to stop Lex Luthor and The Joker from tearing Gotham City apart “brick by brick.” The film will feature many other memorable DC characters in LEGO form, including some of Batman’s most trusted allies, and some of his most dangerous enemies.

The first clip of the film has been released online for all to see, and you can check it out below. It features Bruce Wayne entering the Batcave as Martian Manhunter contacts him from the Justice League Watchtower. The film will be released on Blu-Ray and DVD on May 21.

Well if Lobo was our first DLC character, then who is our second? Why it’s Batgirl, another Bat-family member added to the already massive roster of Injustice characters. A good chunk of the lineup for Injustice is made up by the Bat-Family and their various rogues but Batgirl was oddly enough absent from the original list, and so here she is. So this info leaked about a week ago, but today is the day the first gameplay video went up, and boy does Batgirl look like she’s fun to play.

Like Nightwing, she looks like she’s quite the lightning fast bruiser with a full arsenal of smoke bombs, grappling hooks, and batarangs. While I’m always for more Batman characters in my DC games, I was wondering if she was actually going to show up or not because there’s already such a sizable roster of Batman-related characters in the game, but it looks like Babs made the cut. Who’ll be next? I’m not sure, but for now, watch Batgirl take some much needed cathartic revenge on the Joker, dressed in his Killing Joke outfit.

Check out the character designs of the new animated feature, Justice League: Flashpoint Paradox by Phil Bourassa. Click the jump to see them all.
Phil Bourassa (animator and illustrator) has been doing animation for Young Justice for all seasons and a few months ago fans go a view at new version of Cyborg. Everyone thought this Cyborg was going to be for Teen Titans Go! How wrong were we? Teen Titans Go! is still a good show for it’s targeted and select audience making it a huge success since it’s first premiered episode.

Anyway, the illustration of Cyborg shown a few months back was for the new animated feature Justice League: Flashpoint Paradox. Phil Bourassa did the character designs for each of the characters found in the feature. See what he says about the feature:

Over the last few months I have been getting a lot of questions here on DA (Deviant Art) about what my next project would be and when it might be announced and released. Also, I am thrilled to say, that a lot of you awesome friends and fans have expressed the idea that following Young Justice, you would like to see more DC animation work from me. Well I am happy to reveal that the next project featuring my design work is the recently announced Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox, directed by the super talented Jay Oliva, and it will hit the streets on July 30th. I did the designs for this film last spring and summer (after production wrapped on YJ: Invasion) and we just finished post production on the project last month. I gotta say that thanks to all the tremendous talent involved in making this thing, it’s looking pretty epic. I personally pushed my style into a slightly more exaggerated look for much of this film and I hope those of you who dug the look of Young Justice will get a kick out of seeing the style evolve. I can’t say much more than that right now, but I will have more stuff to share as we get closer to the release date.

Justice League: Flashpoint Paradox will be released July 30th as Blu-ray/DVD, see the character designs down below.

Can we get an extra season of Young Justice? Let’s find out how we can do that, yes? Click the jump to see more.

Smgo TV explains a plan to get an extra season for Young Justice. Please view the Youtube clip below to see what happened at the meeting held in April.

Basically a small recap and explanation, Smgo TV, the kickstarter-esque website made to help dying, or dead, shows come back to life for at least

Nightwing

one more season. According to the clip above, Warner Bros. shot down the possibility to bring back Green Lantern: The Animated Series and Young Justice. So, Smog has come up with a plan that will tackle one show for now. Young Justice will be aimed at first, due to it’s smaller budget. Unlike Green Lantern, Young Justice was made as a 2-D show and not CGI.

So how to fund this and get the ball rolling.

The funding system for Smgo TV will work very similarly to Kickstarter‘s, with you pledging to pay a certain amount, and once the needed amount is reached, and if Warner Bros gives it the thumbs-up, only then are you charged for however much you pledged. If you have some spare cash, and care to bring back these amazing shows for at least one final outing, then be sure to check out Smgo TV at the source link below.

Infinite Crisis, WB’s forthcoming Multiplayer Online Battle Arena (MOBA), now profiles the Steampunk version of our favorite feline femme fatale and the villainess with a killer attachment to plants, Poison Ivy. Click the jump to see more.

Let me do another roll call of what characters have been featured in a Champion Spotlight so far. We have Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, Zatanna, Doomsday, and the alternate forms of the Bat, Nightmare Batman and Gaslight Batman. It seems like WB has decided to step it up this week with a couple of female characters and an added bonus is that they’re Batman characters.

This week, we’ve got the Gaslight Catwoman and Poison Ivy.

Now, it was definitely jarring to see the costume choice for Gaslight Catwoman, but then again, you guys should see Gaslight Joker. Turbine is playing around with these alternate dimensions. They are very, very different from the characters we know. Gaslight Catwoman looks like she’s sporting a pinkish/purplish leotard and boots, garters, a costume cat mask, a frilly little train, and a long braided ponytail. Though jarring at first, I’m starting to realize that it’s somewhat reminiscent of the 1950′s Catwoman costume. Still though, it’s different. I was so taken aback by the costume choice, I wasn’t really paying attention to her moveset. I think it has something to do with being stealthy and quick with extensive use of those oversized claws. In which case, I’m not so sure because her fight animation was very slow. I wish they would have gone a different route with Gaslight Catwoman the way they did for Gaslight Batman, but I guess we’ll just have to see how they’re going to vary it for regular Catwoman.

I’ve been waiting for Poison Ivy since we peeped her in the profile for Zatanna. I was already enamored with her tentacles being added to a character with no real combat skills, but now seeing her up close, I’m also really digging the costume. It’s like a green leotard with leaves, but the leaves are continuously animated and moving, sort of a good reflection of the movement of real leaves in the wind. That’s pretty cool. Also, her versatility is greatly appealing, being that she can be both a support character and standalone offensive character. Though, I didn’t quite get the giant monstrous plant, I do love her ultimate. It’s kinda cool that she can summon a meadow that hurts her opponents and heals her allies. So far, if I ever play this game, I think I’ve found my character in Ivy.

Turbine Studios are currently developing Infinite Crisis. There is no set release date for the game, but Beta testing begins May 8. You can sign up here.

How do you feel about the costume choice for Gaslight Catwoman? Interested in Poison Ivy as much as I am? Let me know.

This week’s GameInformer Podcast features a Q&A with Batman: Arkham Origins creative director Eric Holmes and senior producer Ben Mattes, wherein they reveal some interesting tidbits. Click the jump find out.

I have my fair share of doubts about the Batman: Arkham Origins game, but I’ve come to the conclusion that that’s the fanboy rage in me simply demanding for what I love and what I’m comfortable with. With that mind, I suppose I should just try to relinquish any more doubt for the time being and just hope that WB and DC will not fail us Batman fans. This week’s news makes for some interesting developments.

This week on GameInformer’s podcast, The GameInformer Show, they managed to pull two very important folks on the development team of Batman: Arkham Origins, creative director Eric Holmes and senior producer Ben Mattes. Wisely, GameInfomer went to the fans for some of their burning questions and posed them to said Arkham Origins VIP’s. Though, not the most significant or exciting of news, they are very intriguing and definitely does well to pique my interest.

Here’s the lowdown of some highlights:

Some villains will be revealed during the events of Arkham Origins that will not be enticed by the bounty put on the Bats or even have any desire for his death.

The Riddler may be returning.

Commissioner Gordon will play a more significant role, as he forges a bond with the Bats.

No Batmobile, but the Batwing will make an appearance.

During the events of Arkham Origins, Bruce will have been Batman for two years.

The playable map of Arkham Origins will be more than twice the size of Arkham City.

The first bullet seems to raise an eyebrow, as it’s obvious they’re trying to be cryptic, but I don’t really have any guesses for the most part. It’s a little too vague. The Riddler’s role in the Arkham games was always a bit superfluous and tedious to me, but I’d be interested to see what he’d have up his sleeve. The expanded role of the Commissioner is very promising and makes perfect sense, considering how young and inexperienced the Bats is and how much additional support you’d think he’d need. Plus, the Commish was always given a very limited role in the previous games and I’d like to see more of him. I’m a little indifferent to the presence of either the Batwing or the Batmobile because they’ve never really been featured in the games and rightly so. And the expanded playing field of Arkham Origins makes sense if it’s set in Gotham, so that’s definitely something to look forward to.

Overall, I’m not particularly enthused by these little tidbits of information surrounding the game, but I still found them worthy of mention and interesting to note.

What do you think? Are you excited about an expanded playing field? Do you want to see more Riddler and Gordon? Let me know.

Geoff Johns (chief creative officer and writer of multiple New 52 books) has been confirmed as overseeing the new Arkham game, Arkham Origins. Game Informer has unleashed a bunch of behind-the-scenes clips and information, click the jump to see more.

Geoff Johns

Geoff Johns is pretty much big cheese at DC Comics and he has his hand in almost every DC Universe character even Batman. He is not only Chief Creative Officer at DC Comics, but he has written tons of DC books and the most recent book he has done with Batman is Batman: Earth One. Now, he has been confirmed to oversee Batman: Arkham Origins. The writers of the game are Dooma Wendschuch and Corey May of Sekretagent Productions, the team behind games such as Assassin’s Creed and the earlier Army of Two entries. Here’s what Johns has stated about writing the game:

It’s called Arkham Origins and it really is the introduction of what Arkham means. Arkham evokes a sense of insanity and chaos embodied in the twisted minds and colorful villains of the Batman universe. That had to start somewhere. This is really more about Batman’s initiation into that insane world.

We talked about what would be interesting to explore, what story they wanted to tell — it was all character based at first. The story is the first thing we spoke about, and what the world would be like, what Batman would be like, what certain characters would be like. You would see characters roll back like Penguin or characters you’ve seen before, what they looked like, what their relationships were, and how that would eventually evolve into the Arkham games.

According to the art director, Jeremy Price, he concurs with Johns about the game being an initiation step for Batman into the insanity of the universe. Price comments about how Batman is younger, brasher, and this is how the costume design of the character is portrayed in the game. Johns discusses more about the Batman’s costume design below:

Character design was something we talked a lot about and went through very meticulously. There’s a lot of debate on all sorts of characters. Every single character in there, you’d start with the Arkham and Arkham City version and then look and scroll it back and say, “Well, where were they back then?” Those designs reflect that. I’m excited for people to see them. There’s one in particular I found very interesting that evolves throughout the first game. You’ll see a character start somewhere and eventually end up and match right up with Arkham, which is cool.

There are cosplayers out now trying to replicate the Arkham Origins version of Batman’s costume. So, the design of the Arkham Origins is spot on and exciting fans to the fullest. According to Martin Carrier, studio head of Warner Bros Montreal, he states that Warner Bros Montreal has been working on Origins since 2010. So, this game has been in production for a while now and trying to play on a lot of the elements of Rocksteady’s Arkham games by which they nailed the tone of the Batman universe. Geoff Johns comments about the progress of the game and what Arkham Origins will open up for the rest of the DC Universe below:

It’s a lot of conference calls at first when we’re talking big, big picture. We try to do at least video conference calls and talk about it. Eric [Holmes, creative director] was out here and Ames [Kirshen, executive producer WBIE] and I would go out and have drinks or whatever and talk about it in general. The day-to-day is really trying to support them and let them tell what their vision is. With all my friends that love comic books it’s just the same type of thing – “Wouldn’t this be cool?” It was an absolute pleasure. We’re constantly talking about things that are either story-driven, character-driven, or game-driven. It changes all the time.

We talk a lot about Deathstroke because he’s not traditionally a Batman villain. He’s a DC Universe villain. You’ll see how the DC Universe actually opens up a little bit in some of this stuff coming up like [Batman: Arkham Origins] Blackgate. There’s a reason Deathstroke’s in the game and there’s a story that he has that opens us up to a bigger DC universe. There are some nice surprises in there. You want to keep people guessing and keep them unsure of what’s around the next corner. Part of the reason the Arkham games work so well is the storytelling is just phenomenal. The gameplay’s amazing, but the storytelling’s just as good.

Deathstroke is a formidable villain to fight Batman on all mediums of comics, TV shows, and now games. The coolest thing about this villain is that he is so bad ass to begin with. As far as this character is concerned, he is perfect for this game. However, if Deathstroke is being used to open up more of the DC Universe; will we be expecting more characters from the universe to appear in this game? Or better yet, will we be expecting more games that may not be Batman related to be making appearances such as Superman game with Rocksteady influences? These are all speculations at this point, but if Arkham Origins is going to be the doorway for more things to come such as Superman, Green Lantern, or Wonder Woman game. Then, let’s start signing off now because the fans just squealed at the idea of that being possible in the near future.

Company of Heroes composer, Frederik Wiedmann scores the music for Flashpoint Paradox and Beware the Batman. Click the jump to hear his music.

Frederik Wiedmann is known for his music on Company of Heroes (2013). His music is cinematic with heroic triumphs throughout his scoring. This is the best man for the job for Justice League: Flashpoint Paradox. The Justice League animated feature calls for out of this world music to back up the amazing storytelling. It needs to be dynamic. If you have to compare Wiedmann with any other recent works of today’s composers, one should think of James Horner’s Avatar (2009). It is that good. You can get a taste of this style from his composed work on the recently cancelled Green Lantern: The Animated Series. He composed the music on that series. See what Wiedmann says about Flashpoint Paradox score:

“The score for this Justice League story really has everything, from subtle emotion to all-out action, from intricate tension to epic dramatic themes,” described Wiedmann. “It truly was a challenging and rewarding project. This score was recorded in Los Angeles with a wonderful 30-piece orchestra conducted by Hyesu Yang.”

Justice League: Flashpoint Paradox will be out July 30th as Blu-ray/DVD. Very soon, Wiedmann will be doing composed work for the new Batman series called Beware the Batman that will be coming out July 2013 or during the summer 2013. Here’s what Widemann had to say about composing for the new Batman series:

Wiedmann

“Creating music to complement the unique look and vibe of this show is an exciting process, with lots of experimentation. I’ve spent weeks digging deep into the world of sound creation and synthesis, exploring new techniques in the world of digital audio, just to give Gotham the right atmosphere and to give the villains in the show their own unique musical character.”

It’s sure to be a dark CGI version of Batman, if Wiedmann can pull it off like Shirley Walker did on Batman: The Animated Series. It’ll be a wonderful addition to the Batman animated series collection.
